New London, CT --- Dani Davis (East Granby, CT) scored five straight points to break a 48-48 tie as the WPI women's basketball team went on the road Tuesday evening and defeated Connecticut College 66-57.  WPI improves to 2-1 on the young season while Connecticut College is now 1-2.

After Tara Gabelman (Irvington, NY) hit a layup for the Camels to forge the fifth tie of the game, Davis put the Engineers ahead for good when she drained a jumper with 4:11 remaining and 19 seconds later the sophomore canned her second 3-pointer of the game to put the visitors up 53-48.

Baskets down the stretch by freshman point guard Lisa Mendez (Yonkers, CT) and senior Cindy Chelius (Northfield, NJ) and 9-of-12 free throw shooting helped the Crimson and Gray keep Connecticut College at bay the rest of the way.

Davis ended the game with a team-best 17 points while handing out a game-high and career-best six assists.  Senior Theresa Logan (Southboro, MA) tallied a season-high 14 points while Mendez finished her night with nine.  Logan and Chelius ended with nine rebounds apiece as the Engineers out-rebounded the Camels 48-35 on the night.

Gablemen led all players with 23 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor.  The junior forward also paced Connecticut College by gobbling by seven rebounds.  The Camels had no other players with more than eight points.  Jenna Lovett (Tolland, CT) ended seven points and five rebounds.

WPI is off for nearly a week, opening NEWMAC play at three-time defending regular season champion Babson on Wednesday, November 28th at 7pm.  The Camels return to the court Monday traveling to Western Connecticut for a 7pm match-up.
