Bison pick-up their first road win of the season

FRONT ROYAL, Va. – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team picked up its first road win of the young season with a 64-51 victory over Christendom College on Monday night in a non-conference game. The win snaps a two-game skid for the Bison (2-5) while Christendom drops to 2-5 on the season.

Three different Bison scored 14 or more points in the win as Gallaudet took better care of the ball this evening. In GU's last game out the Bison committed 38 turnovers, against the Crusaders they cut that number in half.

Freshman Claire Tucker (Middletown, Md.) provided a spark off the bench as she scored 10 of her team-high 16 points in the first half. She finished with seven rebounds and a team best four steals. Freshman forward Elena Ciccarelli (Whitesboro, N.Y.) increased her double-double streak to three straight games with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Britny Latham (Cleveland, Tenn.) netted 14 points and passed out a team-high four assists. Junior forward Amy Bachtel (Columbus, Ohio) added eight points and six rebounds and sophomore guard Stephanie Weiss (Wellington, Fla.) chipped in seven points, nine rebounds (eight defensive boards), two assists and two steals. The nine rebounds are the second most in Weiss' career as she grabbed 12 in the second game of the season for Gallaudet.
