Medaille Women Fall Just Short in AMCC Title Game at La Roche

PITTSBURGH,PA- The Lady Mavs concluded their weekend in Pittsburgh playing La Roche in the AMCC Championship. Unfortunately, they ended up on the short side of a 55-49 game. This is the second straight year the Lady Mavericks have lost in the AMCC Championship.

The Mavericks received scoring from the same likely players in the game. Tanisha Travis totaled (18) points along with adding (18) rebounds. She also had the Mavericks only two blocks of the game. Also contributing for the Lady Mavs was Joelle Pollak who added (12) points and chipped in (6) rebounds and (4) assists.

The Mavericks finished the game shooting 19 of 42 for (45.2%) and held La Roche to only (27.9%) from the field. Furthermore, the Lady Mavs hit on 6 of their 14 3-point attempts, which was good for a (42.9%). The Mavs did a wonderful job on defense preventing La Roche from getting good looks from behind the arc. La Roche finished the game hitting 4 of 26 from behind the arc for a (15.4%) percentage.

In addition, the Lady Mavs outrebounded La Roche 42-29 for the game. The RedHawks did lead in offensive rebounds, totaling ten for the game to the Mavericks four.

Sadly, the main story in this game was turnovers. The Lady Mavs turned the ball over (33) times in the game while La Roche only had (8).

After the tournament, the Lady Mavericks currently stand with a (22-5) record and will now look for a berth in the ECAC Tournament. The seedings will be posted Monday after the NCAA Tournament bids.
