Beasley Scores Career-High 21 Points in Saints' 77-60 Win Over Chatham in Regular Season Finale

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Sophomore guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) scored a career-high 21 points to lead the Thomas More College women's basketball team to a 77-60 win over Chatham University today (Saturday, February 18, 2012) in its regular season finale at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 21-4 overall and finish the regular season 17-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).  With the loss, the Cougars end the season at 4-21 overall and 1-17 in the PAC.

Thomas More took an early 15-6 lead when junior guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) made two free-throws with 14:01 to play in the first half.  Chatham answered with a 13-4 run capped by a Marguerite Sargent jumper to tie the game at 19-19 with 8:12 to play in the opening half.  The Saints closed out the half on a 24-11 run to take a 43-30 lead at halftime when sophomore forward Moriah Corey (Louisville, Ky./Butler) made a lay-up with 53-seconds to play in the half.

The Cougars opened the second half on a 12-8 run to cut the lead to 51-42 with 15:13 to play in the game when Carly Zelenak made a three-pointer.  Thomas More used a 25-6 run to build a 76-48 lead with 5:28 to play in the game when Corey made a lay-up.  Chatham closed out the game on a 12-1 run, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More won the game, 77-60.

Two other Saints joined Beasley in double-figure scoring as Long finished with 16 points and Corey had 12 points.  Junior forward/center Katie Kees (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) led the team on the boards with a game-high nine rebounds, while Beasley led the team in assists with eight.

Thomas More opens PAC Championship Tournament play on Tuesday (February 21) as the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 seed Grove City College at 5:30 p.m. in a quarterfinal round game at the Connor Convocation Center.
