Wheaton, Ill. - The Wheaton College women's basketball team came away with a 63-52 victory on Senior Night over North Park University on Saturday.

With the win, the Thunder (17-7 overall, 10-3 CCIW) wrap up the No. 2 seed in next weekend's CCIW Tournament. Their opponent will be No. 3 seed Carthage College (19-6, 10-4) in a Friday semifinal in Bloomington.

The Vikings finish their season with a 10-15 mark, 4-10 in conference play.

Wheaton started the game up 8-2 in the early going, but the visitors came back to tie the game at 12-12. It was back and forth the rest of the half, with Wheaton holding a narrow 28-26 lead at the break. Both teams shot under 40 percent in the half.

North Park kept pace in the second half as well and were still within one point (37-36) with 12:26 remaining in the game. Lindsey Brenneman drew a foul and hit two free throws, and on the ensuing possession, Breanna Bohlen blocked a shot that led to a layup by Elisabeth Potts. Laura Karsten then stole the ball and fed Potts for another layup. Potts was not done however, as the senior hit a jumper right after another North Park turnover to put Wheaton up 44-35.

The Thunder kept its lead the rest of the way to finish the 11-point win. Brenneman's team-leading 17 points also put the senior guard over 1,000 career points, which came in her 100th game. Potts ended up with 13 points, Lauren Graham totaled nine points and Laura Karsten put up 10 points, six assists and four rebounds.

For the game, Wheaton shot 21 of 57 from the field (36.8 percent), 5 of 19 from three-point range (26.3 percent) and 16 of 18 from the charity stripe (88.9 percent).

North Park shot 22 of 59 from the field (37.3 percent), 0 of 5 from beyond the arc (0 percent) and 8 of 10 from the line (80 percent). Roxxanne Jones secured 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Vikings.
