FARMINGTON, Maine -- The University of Maine at Farmington basketball team scored the first 17 points off the second half to surge past Thomas College for an 81-47 North Atlantic Conference victory in the regular-season finale for both teams today at Dearborn Gymnasium.

The Beavers (10-14 overall, 9-9 NAC) are seeded sixth in the upcoming NAC Tournament and scheduled to face No. 3 Husson University in the quarterfinals Tuesday. Game time is to be announced. The Terriers (5-19, 5-13) are ranked eighth in the NAC with a trip to top-seeded Castleton State College for the quarterfinals Tuesday.

Emma Morrison (Saco, Maine) netted a career-high 23 points to lead UMF, while Kenni Norton (Strong, Maine) and Lindsay Ranquist (Owls Head, Maine) added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Morrison and classmates Alyssa Neptune (Readfield, Maine) and Paige Saunders (Surry, Maine) along with student assistant Mykayla Stoutamyer were honored on Senior Day.

The Beavers, who scored the final four points of the first half to take a 32-29 lead into intermission, outscored Thomas 17-0 over the first 5:17 of the second half to grab control of the contest at 49-29.

Kate Thibodeau (Woolwich, Maine) led the Terriers with 10 points with Jasmine Bishop (Waterville, Maine) providing eight points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Thomas' effort was hindered by 33 turnovers.

The Terriers hung with the Beavers over the first 20 minutes behind a 6-for-11 effort from beyond the arc. Thomas took a 27-22 lead on an Ashley Matchett (Skowhegan, Maine) three with 3:43 left to go in the first half. Baskets by Morrison and Kelsey Graffam (Falmouth, Maine) in the final three seconds of the half helped UMF to a 32-29 halftime edge.

A Morrison layup in UMF's first possession of the second half kicked off the torrid 17-0 stretch for the Beavers, which included seven points by Rachel Clement (Gray, Maine) and 3-pointers by Norton and Ranquist. The Beavers also forced Thomas into seven turnovers during the run, capped by a Ranquist trey with 14:43 to play for a 49-29 command.

The Terriers did not get closer than 17 the rest of the way as the Beavers cruised to the 81-47 victory.
