Titans Rally to Beat Millikin

          The Millikin women's basketball team fell victim to a second half rally from conference leader Illinois Wesleyan and lost 75-63 at the Griswold Center on Feb. 15.  Illinois Wesleyan improves to 19-5, 12-1 while the Big Blue go to 15-9, 7-6.

          Millikin's loss coupled with Elmhurst loss to Carthage leaves the Big Blue and Bluejays tied for fourth place in the conference and the final spot in the CCIW Tournament.  Millikin will close out the season at last place North Central while Elmhurst will play CCIW Champion Illinois Wesleyan.

          Millikin was in control for much of the first half going to the locker room at halftime with a 35-28 advantage.  In the second half, the Titans got hot from the field and ramped up the defense to our score Millikin 47-28 in the half and secure the victory.

          Illinois Wesleyan shot 44.6 percent from the field including 53 percent in the second half.  The Titans hit on 38.5 percent of its three pointers connecting on 7-12 (58 percent) from behind the arc in the second half.  Millikin shot 35 percent from the field and struggled in the second half hitting on 29 percent of its shots.  Millikin out rebounded the Titans 39-37.  Millikin committed 20 turnovers while the Titans had 18.

          Millikin had three players in double figures in scoring led by Crystal Zeigler with 15.  Cecily Aldridge had 12 and Julia Robert added 10.  Robert had a team high nine rebounds.

          Illinois Wesleyan was led by Olivia Lett who had a double double with a game high 28 points and 10 rebounds.

          Millikin will complete the regular season on Feb. 18 at North Central in Naperville at 2:30 p.m.
