San Antonio - The Tiger women's basketball team earned its spot in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament with an 85-58 win over Hendrix College on Friday night.

Trinity improved to 9-13 on the season, and 7-6 in SCAC play, with the lopsided victory.  The Tigers shot better than 55% in the second half to pull away with the victory.

Despite getting out-shot in the first half, Trinity took a 36-30 lead into the locker room, thanks to the Tigers attempting 17 more shots than Hendrix in the opening 20 minutes.

Trinity opened with a 23-9 run to start the game, but a 12-0 run late in the half, cut the lead to just one point with 4:30 to play.  The Tigers scored seven of the final nine points to close out the period.

After Hendrix made it a four-point game early in the second (44-40), the Tigers pushed the lead back to double figures (59-46) on back-to-back three-pointers.  Trinity then went on an 18-0 run that in essence finished the game with 5:47 remaining.

Murphy Burns led three Tigers in double figures with a 23-point night.  Burns also tied Hannah Coley for the team lead with four assists in the game.  Coley hit 7-14 from the field for 19 points, as well as pulling down a team-best eight rebounds.

Libby Kruse scored 13 points to round out Trinity's double-digit scorers, while Jana Tucker came off the bench with six points and six boards.

Avery Roller led Hendrix with 16 points, while Jamie Tate led all players with 12 rebounds.

Trinity finishes off its regular season home schedule with a Sunday afternoon game against Colorado College.  Colorado lost an 80-79 game at Southwestern tonight, and leads Trinity by a half-game in the West Division standings.
