Baruch Falls to Mount St. Mary (63-45)

The Baruch College Bearcats lost a 63-45 non-conference contest to the Knights of Mount St. Mary College on Monday night in Newburgh, New York.

The visiting Bearcats dug themselves into a hole early by shooting only 21.4 percent (6-28) in the first half, while the Blue Knights shot 44.8 percent (13-29) to build a 33-16 home halftime advantage.

During the second half, the Bearcats managed on two occasions to get as close as 15 points, but the Blue Knights continued their consistent shooting en route to the victory.


Iyana Abramsled the Bearcats in scoring with 11 points and four assists. Folashade Akindescored eight points and grabbed six rebounds. Francess Henry, who was named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week, finished with six points.

Jen Mocanu led the Blue Knights with a game-high 19 points.

The women's basketball team will return to action on Friday, February 3, with a 7:00 pm CUNYAC contest against Lehman College.
