More news about: Medaille

BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille College Women's Basketball team dominated Hilbert College this evening (55-21) despite poor shooting performances from both teams.  The Lady Mavs held the Hawks to just eight field goals in the entire game.

For the second straight game the Medaille held its opponent to single digits on the scoresheet deep into the second half as Hilbert did not reach the ten point mark until a free throw with (7:26) remaining in the game.  The Lady Mavs led (42-10) at that point.  The Medaille lead would swell to as many as (38) in the win.

Both teams really sruggled from the floor with the hawks managing to connect on just (14.3%) of their field goal attempts while going (0 for 9) from behind the arc.  The Lady Mavs only connected on (28.2%) of their shots but they won the rebounding battle (59-48), dominated the paint (22-12) and saw their bench outscore the Hilbert reserves (25-2).

All twelve of the Lady Mavericks found their way into the scoring ledger withTanisha Travis leading the way, tallying (9) points while matching a game high with (10) rebounds and swiping a game high six steals.  That rebound total was matched by rookie Morgan Howe who also chipped in with (8) points.  Each of whom registered a blocked shot on the night as well.

Both Meghan Dougherty and Joelle Pollak knocked down a pair of three pointers with Dougherty finishing with six points and Pollak with eight.

The win is the eighth straight for Medaille and it pushes their record to (17-4) overall and keeps them alone in second place in the AMCC standings at 12-2.  They will look for their ninth straight win when they host Mt. Aloysius College on Saturday (2/4) at 3:00pm in another conference tilt.
