Balanced Keuka Rolls Past Morrisville State

Sophomore Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney) scored a game-high 17 points and junior Mariah Mouzon (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) added 16 points and seven rebounds as the Keuka College women's basketball team defeated Morrisville State 67-51 Wednesday night inside the Weed Physical Arts Center.

Sophomore Jessica Bandrowski (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches) added 10 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals for Keuka (11-5, 9-3 North Eastern Athletic Conference).

Gravel buried a '3' and hit a layup as the Storm sprinted out to a 5-0 lead. A three-point play from Mouzon extended the Storm lead to 8-2, and when Bandrowski buried a '3' seven minutes in, Keuka had a 19-6 advantage.

Gravel made another layup to cap a 13-0 run as the Storm took a 27-6 lead midway through the first half. The two squads played even for the remainder of the half, and Keuka took a 40-20 lead into the locker room behind 10 points apiece from Bandrowski and Gravel.

The Storm shot 15-for-27 (55.6 percent) in the half while holding the Mustangs to 9-for-28 (32.1 percent).

Keuka maintained at least a 15-point lead for the rest of the game and finished the contest shooting 24-for-49 (49 percent), including going 7-for-18 on three-pointers (38.9 percent).

Morrisville State (6-12, 5-6) also placed three players in double-figures, led by Dyshea Smiley (12 points), Nijee Scott (11) and Nijah Townsend (10).

Senior Morgan Engelbert (Elmira, NY/Thomas Edison) scored a season-high nine points on 4 of 6 shooting as eight of Keuka's 12 players scored a point in the game.

Sophomore Taylor Szwec (Candor, NY/Candor) pulled down seven rebounds as Keuka enjoyed a 40-28 edge on the glass.

The Storm returns to action with a 1 p.m. road game Saturday afternoon against Wilson College.
