Team Effort Leads Plattsburgh to Victory over Oswego

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Five players notched double-digit scoring as the Plattsburgh State women's basketball team (7-9, 4-6 SUNYAC) rolled to an 81-58 victory over visiting Oswego State (9-8, 4-6 SUNYAC) in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action.
 
The Cardinals dominated the first half, leading by as many as 17 points. Plattsburgh started the game by going on a 12-2 run in the first five minutes of game and ended the half leading by 15 points.
 
Another hot start from the Cardinals extended the lead to 23 points with 10:37 remaining in the game. Plattsburgh shot 40 percent from the field, while the Lakers shot 25.5 percent.
 
Kathleen Payne led the Cardinals with a double-double. Payne scored 23 points on 8-of-19 shooting and recorded 10 rebounds. Lindsey Larivee came off the bench to score 14 points and Brittany Marshall scored 12 points. Catherine Cassidy and Kerri Salisbury added 10 points apiece. Yazmin Lewis pitched in 10 rebounds for the Cardinals.
 
The Lakers were led by Kayla Ryan, Meagan Stover and Jenna Rossi who all scored nine points.
 
The Cardinals return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host SUNY Cortland at 2 p.m.
