Balanced Scoring Lifts F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. - Four players reached double figures as the Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to run past visiting McDaniel, 86-66, in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Mayser Center. The Diplomats (3-2, 3-0 CC) have now won three straight and remain unbeaten in CC play, while the Green Terror (5-2, 3-1 CC) suffer their first CC loss of the season.

Leading 21-18 with 10:18 remaining in the first half, the Diplomats went on a key 15-0 spurt over the next five minutes to break the game open. F&M led by as many as 26 in the opening stanza, before taking a 50-26 advantage into the halftime break.

The Green Terror crept within 14 points with 9:09 left following a pair of free throws by Rachael Rybak, but the visitors would get no closer as the Diplomats cruised to the 20-point victory.

Colleen Bott poured in a career and game-high 18 points to lead the way for F&M. Alexa Barbush did it all with 16 points, four rebounds, six assists and eight steals, while Elizabeth Snyder also posted a well-rounded line with 15 points, four boards, five assists and two steals. Kristina McCarthy also reached double-digit scoring with 14 points along with seven rebounds, while Megan Pauley grabbed a game-high 12 boards in the win.

Allie Eader notched 14 points and five steals and Emma Wingerd totaled 13 points and eight boards to pace the Green Terror. Steph Perez added 12 points and four steals in a losing effort.

The Diplomats return to the court on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at CC foe Gettysburg. Tip off is slated for 6:00 pm.
