Barbush, Diplomats Win Third Straight

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Alexa Barbush led a group of four Diplomats with double-digit scoring figures by netting a career-high 25 points as Franklin & Marshall drove past McDaniel 77-60 in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday afternoon. F&M (12-5, 9-3 CC) has now won three straight while the loss moves the Green Terror to 7-11, 4 -10 CC.

Tied at 17 apiece, F&M took control of the game at the 11:17 mark by going on a 22-12 run the rest of the period. The Diplomats converted 15 of their first half points off of eight McDaniel turnovers to take a 12-point lead heading into the halftime break, 41-29.

The Green Terror didn't allow F&M to pull away in the second half, however, the Diplomats kept a double-digit lead throughout the rest of the contest. The Diplomats led by as many as 18 at the 13:16 mark when Elizabeth Snyder converted a three-point play. The Green Terror would respond by going on an 8-0 run to bring the Diplomat lead to only ten, before F&M cruised to the 17-point victory.

Barbush had an all around game pacing the Diplomats with a career-high 25 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Kristina McCarthy recorded her fifth double-double of the season contributing 14 points and bringing down 17 boards. Allison Bauer reached double-digit scoring with 14 points, while Megan Pauley posted a well-rounded line by dropping in 11 points, seven boards, and a game-high six assists. Snyder grabbed a game-high five steals.

Steph Perez notched 14 points and six boards for the Green Terror, while Rachael Rybak added 12 points. Emma Wingerd collected eight rebounds on the day. 

The Diplomats will return to the court Wednesday when they host CC opponent Johns Hopkins at 6 p.m.
