BUFFAO, NY - The Medaille College women's basketball team used a huge effort from its bench and a dominant performance in the paint to cruise past AMCC foe Pitt-Greensburg this afternoon in the Sullivan Center.  It was their 12th win in their last 13 games and helps them keep pace in the AMCC standings.

The visitors grabbed an early lead against the Lady Mavs but that would not last long with Medaille seizing control of the game with (12:32) remaining in the first half on a layup by Joelle Pollak that gave Medaille a (14-13) lead, it was one they would not relinquish.  The Lady Mavs would stretch their lead to (19) points at  the break (40-21).

The story of the game was Medaille's dominance in the lane as they outscored the Bobcats (56-14) in the paint.  Rookie Morgan Howe played a huge role in that effort as she went (7 for 10) on her attempts from the floor, finishing with (16) points and (2) blocked shots.  Both Tanisha Travis and Taneda Travis also contributed to those staggering low post numbers as they finished with (13) and (10) points respectively.

The Medaille backcourt was led by Pollak who poured in a game high (18) points on (9 of 17) shooting.  She also matched a team high with six rebounds, which was also accomplished by Emily Brophy.  Senior Meghan Dougherty and junior Mary Bongiovanni each dished out team a team best five assists in the win.

The Lady Maverick bench outscored that of the Bobcats (39-3) and the Lady Mavs defense held Pitt-Greensburg to (28.6%) shooting and forced them into (20) turnovers.  Those miscues resulted in (22) points for the Lady Mavs in a game that saw Medaille lead by as many as (27) points. Another key to the victory was Medaille's ability to get to the free throw line, they attempted (21) free throws to just (7) for the visitors.

The win pushes the Lady Mavs to (13-4) overall and they stand in 2nd position in the conference standings at (9-2).  They will look to stay on track when they head to Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday (1/25) for an 8:00pm tipoff against the Panthers.
