BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille College women's basketball team avenged an earlier loss this season when they held on for a (74-68) home win against Penn State-Behrend this evening.  The Lady Mavs struggled from the field early on but found their rhythm as the game went along which aided in the crucial victory.

The game was dominated by its starters as the Lady Mavs received all but six points from its first five and the Lions reserves only chipped in with eleven points.  For Medaille it would be rookie Alicia Montalvo who would put forth a career best effort, finishing with a team (and career) best (19) points on (6 of 10) shooting.  She knocked down all three of her attempts from behind the arc along with all four of her free throw attempts. She also matched a team best with (6) rebounds to go along with three assists.

Senior Tanisha Travis poured in (16) points while blocking a pair of shots and two other Lady Mavs reached double figures in the scoring column as Joelle Pollak netted (13) and Meghan Dougherty chipped in with (11) points to go along with a game best (5) assists.  Junior Brittney Rowland matched a team best six rebounds while also tallying nine points and dishing out three assists.

The Lady Mavs made the most of (15) Lion turnovers by converting them into (22) points while also coming up with (10) second chance points to just three for the visitors.

The win pushes Medaille to (12-4) overall and keeps them in the hunt for an AMCC title with an (8-2) conference mark.  They will look for a fourth straight win when they host Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday (1/21) at 4:00pm in the Sullivan Center.  The Lady Mavs upended the Bobcats (72-53) in their earlier meeting this season in Greensburg, PA.
