MINNEAPOLIS -- Brittany Zins (JR, Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy HS) recorded her second double-double of the season to lead the Augsburg College women's basketball team but it wasn't enough as the Auggies dropped a hard-fought 70-60 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest to the College of St. Benedict on Wednesday night at Si Melby Hall.

Zins, who seems to excel against the Blazers, recorded a 17-point, 13-rebound effort to lead Augsburg (8-7 overall, 5-7 MIAC). Zins' only other double-double of the season came in the Auggies first matchup against St. Benedict (11/30), where she posted 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Serenae Levine (SR, Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie HS) and Abbey Luger (FY, Oakdale, Minn./North St. Paul HS) also scored in double figures for Augsburg. Levine posted 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while Luger posted her second consecutive double-digit performance, finishing with 12 points and four rebounds.

St. Benedict (8-7 overall, 5-7 MIAC) finished with three players in double figures, led by Cassie Dorschner (SR, Mantorville, Minn./Kasson-Mantorville HS), who finished with 20 points and three rebounds.

The first half proved to be a back-and-forth affair with three tie scores and seven lead changes. Despite being outshot in the first-half, Augsburg was able to dominate on the boards, outrebounding the Blazers 19-10. The Auggies outscored St. Benedict 12-2 in second-chance points and took a 37-32 lead into the locker room at the break.

The Auggies struggled to put the ball in the basket in the second half, connecting on only 21.2 percent (7-of-33) from the floor. A pair of free throws by Brittany Dyshaw (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) at the 2:28 mark brought the Auggies within four and put the score at 59-55, but a 9-for-10 free-throw shooting performance by St. Benedict sealed the 70-60 win.

For the game, Augsburg shot 32.8 percent (22-of-67) from the floor, while St. Benedict connected on 53.7 percent (22-of-41) of its shots. The Auggies claimed a 39-32 advantage on the boards, but were only able to convert on 10-of-14 from the charity stripe, while St. Benedict hit 21-of-30.

Augsburg and St. Benedict both return to action on Saturday (1/28) with Augsburg traveling to St. Paul to take on St. Catherine University, while the Blazers play host to Concordia College-Moorhead.
