Quakers Thump Emory & Henry, 66-40

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Sophomore Gabby Oglesby tallied a game-high 14 points and eight rebounds in Guilford College's 66-40 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win over Emory & Henry College Tuesday evening.

Oglesby, along with teammates Kayla Adams (12 points) and Jazlyn Gibbs (10 points) led the Quakers (12-3, 9-1 ODAC) in double-figure scoring and helped Guilford to keep pace with Virginia Wesleyan and Eastern Mennonite at the top of the conference. Adams also contributed seven rebounds and two of the Quakers' 11 steals. A strong defensive effort held the Wasps (1-9, 0-8 ODAC) to 33.3 percent field-goal shooting for the game.

Guilford scored nine of the games first 11 points and never looked back. The Quakers built a 31-19 advantage over Emory & Henry by halftime. The lead ballooned to as many as 27 points in the second half as the Quakers shot 51.6 percent from the field in the second stanza.

Emory & Henry's Kristie Langley led the way for the Wasps with 13 points. Teammates Ashlyn Baird and Carlyta Hamm both contributed 10 points. Hamm had a game-high nine rebounds in the losing effort.

The Quakers host Old Dominion Athletic Conference-rival Lynchburg College Saturday (1/21) in a 4:00 p.m. game.
