The Bethany College women's basketball team picked up another key win Saturday afternoon, as they defeated the Westminster Titans 65-62 to improve their record to 9-6 and 5-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).

While Bethany had the advantage the entire first half, which included as large as a seven-point spread, Westminster was never far behind. With Westminster's Katie Hughes scoring 10 of her 18 points in the first half, the Titans tied the game three times, but could never gain the advantage. The Bison stayed ahead to go into the locker room with a 34-31 lead.

The following 20 minutes was a constant battle between the two sides. The second half saw six lead changes until a layup by senior forward Katelynn Hackathorn gave Bethany a 51-50 lead with 7:24 remaining in the game. Westminster was always a step behind from that point and the Green & White pulled away with the lead for the victory.

Senior guard Anne Wilson had her fifth consecutive double-digit performance as she netted 15 with six rebounds and five assists. Senior forward Renee Shepherd and junior guard Kayla Taormina recorded 10 points apiece to propel Bethany to the win.

Besides Hughes performance for Westminster, Courtney Zitt also contributed with 13 points and seven boards.

The Bison will now spend the next week at home as they host two more PAC opponents. The first tough opponent, Saint Vincent (12-3, 7-1), who beat Thomas More Saturday to pull into a three-way tie for first place in the league with the Saints and Waynesburg, will travel to Bethany this Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
