TIFFIN, Ohio—Heidelberg University sophomore guard Kathleen Phillips (Sandusky/St. Mary's) was selected as the Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball player of the week for the week of Monday, Jan. 2, announced today by the league office. Phillips highlighted her week with a 36-point performance and the game-winning shot with three seconds left in the game in the Berg's 80-79 win over Marietta College on Saturday.

Phillips averaged 27.7 points per game, pulled down 10 rebounds, shot 47.1 percent (24-of-51) from the field, including 41.7 percent (five-of-12) from the three point line, and 81.1 percent (30-of-37) from the foul line, and tallied two assists, one block and five steals over the Berg's three games.

In Heidelberg's 75-66 win at Oberlin College (Jan. 2), Phillips scored a game-high 17 points and had four rebounds. Two days later, in a 75-53 loss to Ohio Northern University (Jan. 4), she matched a career-high with 30 points—which she set earlier this season—on 10-of-17 shooting.

Against Marietta (Jan. 7), Phillips came within one point of tying the school single-game record—held by Becky Putnam, Connie Sanford and Diedre Staffer—pouring in a new career-high of 36 points, shooting seven-of-17 from the field, two-of-five from the three point line and a blistering 20-of-22 from the charity stripe.

Through 13 games in the 2011-12 season, Phillips leads the league in scoring with 19.9 ppg. and leads the Berg with a 39.1 field goal percentage and 81.3 free throw percentage.

Heidelberg (4-9, 1-5 OAC) continues its home stand Wednesday, Jan. 11 with an OAC game against Otterbein University in the second of four straight home contests at Seiberling Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
