MILWAUKEE, Wis. – In what was a highly contested game, the Edgewood College women's basketball team could not keep pace with MSOE late in the second half. The Eagles held a slim three point advantage at halftime, but the Raiders started the half on a run and pulled away from the Eagles late to end an 18-game losing streak to the Eagles with the 62-53 victory.

After Alison Tobin made a free throw to start the game, MSOE (8-4, 5-1 NAC) scored seven of the next eight points to take a 7-2 lead, almost four minutes into the contest. Mariah Hill ended a nearly three minute stretch where no points were scored with a layup to pull the Eagles within three with under 14 minutes to go in the first half.

Trailing 16-11 with less than five minutes left in the first half, Edgewood College (4-8, 3-3 NAC) made their move as Hill made another layup to spark the run. Brittany Bylsma followed with a layup before Hill converted a three-point play to put the Eagles up 18-16. After a Raider hoop, Mallory Palmer gave the lead back to the Eagles and Melanie Walker stretched the lead when she drained a three-point basket, putting the Eagles up 23-18. MSOE's Kathleen Collingbourne tied the contest at 24 when she nailed a triple with 18 seconds left in the half. However, Sadie Ewing answered with a three-point basket of her own just before the halftime buzzer to give Edgewood College a 27-24 lead at the break.

The Raiders scored the first five points of the second half to take a slim two point lead, but the Eagles answered with four points of their own to regain the lead at 31-29 with 16:25 left. However, that was the last lead the Eagles held as Collingbourne answered with another three-point bucket on the Raiders' next trip down the floor to put MSOE on top. Following the triple, the Raiders scored six straight points to open up a 38-31 lead with 13:28 to go.

With Edgewood College trailing by eight, Tobin tried to spark an Eagle rally as she knocked down back-to-back three-point baskets to bring the Eagles within 48-44 with just more than five minutes remaining. However, MSOE then ran off eight consecutive points to earn a commanding 56-44 lead with 1:15 remaining. The Raiders then made six free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the 62-53 victory.

With the win, MSOE snapped an 18-game Edgewood College winning streak. The Eagles last loss to MSOE was on February 10, 2001.

Hill led all scorers with a career-high 23 points, going 9-for-16 from the floor. Tobin nearly missed another double-double, scoring 14 points to go along with nine rebounds.

The Raiders were led by Carol Cayo and Marguerit Wellstein who scored 17 and 14 points, respectively. Cayo also just missed a double-double as she pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
