RYAN LEADS RAMAPO OVER PURCHASE, 75-42

Mahwah, NJ: Alexa Ryan led the Ramapo College women's basketball team to a 75-42 win over Purchase College today in the championship game of the Roadrunner Tipoff Tournament. The Roadrunners remain undefeated at 3-0 while the Panthers fall to 1-2.

Ryan was named MVP of the tournament after scoring 21 points in the championship game including four three pointers, she was also 3-3 from the foul line. Lindsey Gripenburg, Brittany Howes and Jackie Jerkovich all posted 11 points while Michaela Moore added ten points of her own. Jerkovich dished out a team high five assists and was a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe while Faith Flannery led the team in rebounds with eight.

Ramapo went on a 6-0 run to start the game before Purchase would get on the board. They would lead by as many as seven, 15-8 (13:26) on a Howes jumper before they would extend their lead in the final thirteen minutes of the game. Jerkovich sank a three pointer off a pass from Kelly Haspel, 30-11 (8:25) to go up 19 before Purchase cut the lead to 17 on two made foul shots 34-17 (2:19). Ramapo went on a 8-2 run to end the half up 42-19 capped off by a jumper by Ryan in the closing seconds.

The Roadrunners received 18 points off the bench in the first half while they shot 53% from the field, 66% from behind the three point line and a perfect 6-6 from the foul line. Ramapo didn't let down in the second half as they pushed their lead to 25 multiple times the last coming off a three pointer by Ryan (61-36, 7:28). Ramapo would extend their lead to 32, their biggest lead of the game when Ryan hit a jump shot and was fouled before converting on her foul shot with 4:34 to go in the half (72-40). Tierney Henderson scored the last basket for either team on a made foul shot to go up 75-42.

Ramapo shot 45% from the field in the game (27-60) while they made six of nine three pointers (66%), and shot 75% from the foul line (15-20).

The Roadrunners return to action on Tuesday, November 22 at 5:00pm when they host non-conference foe the College of Staten Island.
