GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's basketball team saw its shooting touch catch a winter chill on Monday night, and it led to a 46-41 loss to the host Gettysburg in the opening round of the Days Inn Tournament at Bream Gym.

The Lady Royals shot just 19.7 percent from the field (12-for-61), including just two of 17 from 3-point range, in the loss. Scranton (5-6) stayed in the game by hitting 15 of its 19 free throw attempts, but couldn't overcome its struggles from the floor in losing its second straight game.

Scranton was led by 10 points, five rebounds and two steals from junior guard Christina Hiltunen (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney), who made her first career start in the game. Senior guard Sidney Jaques (Rosemont, N.J./Hunterdon Central) added eight points in the loss.

The Lady Royals made just five of 34 field goal attempts in the first half, but trailed by just four at the break, 17-13. Gettysburg (4-5) found its shooting touch in the second half, connecting on 11 of 34 attempts to seal the victory.

The Bullets were led by 13 points from junior guard Alyssa Oursler (Middletown, Md./Middletown), 11 points from senior forward Sara Kinsley (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) and 10 points from sophomore guard Cori Younghans (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury).

Gettysburg outrebounded Scranton, 55-41, to help overcome 20 turnovers, including 13 steals by the Lady Royals.

Scranton returns to action Tuesday in the consolation game against Neumann University at 2 p.m. at Brean Gym in Gettysburg, Pa.
