Brooklyn, NY-  The Lady Cougars of Medgar Evers College were handed their second loss of the season by the Maccabees of Yeshiva University with a score of 53-47.  From the opening tip-off, the Lady Cougars looked to be the superior team.  Chantal Biscette led the Cougar offense in the first half, scoring 17 points (8-15 FG, 1-2 FT), grabbing 5 offensive rebounds, 4 defensive rebounds, and by controlling the tempo of the game.  Tiffany Woodbine was also instrumental in the 1st half by scoring 9 points (4-10 FG, 1-2 FT) and forcing 4 turnovers. However, the Maccabees would not go quitely.  Haley David led the Maccabees on a surge late in the first half (4-12 FG, 3-8 3-PtrFG, 4 DefR) and brought her team within 8 to end the half with a score of 22-30.

In the second half, the Lady Cougars got into foul trouble very early.  Robin Jones earned her 4th foul in the late stages of the first half and fouled out early in the second.  Yvanna Jack, who had been a defensive force to be reckoned with, fouled out half way through the second half.  Biscette picked up 2 quick fouls in the beginning of the half and eventually fouled out with 8 minutes left in the game.

Without the Biscette and Jack at the helm, the Maccabees crept back into the game and took the lead.  Freshman standout Tiffany Woodbine (8-24 FG, 1-3FT, 5DefR, 9 Steals) , fought valiantly to keep the Cougars in the game, taking control of the offense and playing scrappy defense, but it wasn't enough.  Rebecca Yoshor (7-15 FG, 8-10 FT,  12 Rebounds) , Haley David (6-19 FG, 10 DefR, 2 Steals) and the rest of the Maccabees proved to be too much for Woodbine to handle by herself.

The Lady Cougars will be playing in the Cougar Cave again on November 30th vs SUNY-Old Westbury.  On December 3-4th, the Lady Cougars will host the 3rd Annual Betty Shabbazz Tournament.  The tournament will feature the Lady Cougars, Yesheiva University, the College of New Rochelle and Berkeley College.
