(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Three Saints scored in double-figures as the Thomas More College women's basketball team defeated Washington & Jefferson College, 63-43, tonight (Wednesday, December 7, 2011) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Presidents fall to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the PAC.

Thomas More jumped out to a 15-7 lead when freshman forward Kelli Dixon (Walton, Ky./Walton-Verona) made a lay-up with 12:43 to play in the first half.  W&J answered with a 13-4 run capped by a jumper by Blair Cotton with 7:32 to play in the half to cut the lead to 19-17.  The Saints closed out the half on a 13-9 run to extend the lead to 32-26 at halftime when freshman forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) made a lay-up with 1:31 to play in the first half.

The Saints opened the second half on a 16-8 run to take their biggest lead of the game at 58-34 with 6:43 to play in the game when sophomore guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) made a lay-up.  The Presidents closed out the game on a 9-5 run, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More went on to the 63-43 win.

Junior forward/center Katie Kees (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mother of Mercy) led the Saints in scoring with 12 points, while junior guard Allison Long (Hebron, Ky./Conner) added 11 and Dixon finished with 10.  Sophomore forward Moriah Corey (Louisville, Ky./Butler) led the team on the boards with a game-high nine rebounds and Long led the team in assists with three.

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (December 10) when it travels to Bethany, West Virginia to play Bethany College at 2 p.m. inside Hummel Field House.
