BROCKPORT, N.Y. – With the score tied in the second half, the Oswego State women's basketball team out-scored host Brockport 20-10 to close out the game and earn a 54-44 road win on Tuesday night.  The Lakers ended the game going a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe to seal the win.  Meagan Stover (Jr., Lake George, N.Y.) and Kayla Ryan (Sr., Schaghticoke, N.Y.) posted 16 and 14 points, respectively, for Oswego State.

The Lakers (5-1 overall, 2-0 SUNYAC) continue their road trip with games at Fredonia and Buffalo State this upcoming weekend, while Brockport (1-4 overall, 0-0 SUNYAC) travels to north to face Potsdam and Plattsburgh.

The squads got off to a slow start offensively as Brockport's Ellen Story put the first points of the game on the board with 16:27 on the clock.  After trading baskets over the course of the next seven minutes, until Meagan Stover (Jr., Lake George, N.Y.) scored seven points during a 13-2 Laker run that gave Oswego State a 23-10 lead with 41 seconds remaining in the first half.  Golden Eagle Cecilia Sigrist scored on a put back before the horn sounded to make the score 23-12 at the break.  Both teams struggled from the floor especially from downtown, as the Lakers went 2-for-11 (18.2 percent) and Brockport went 0-for-8 from long range.

The Golden Eagles came out strong in the second half, and gradually began to chip away at the Oswego State lead.  Kelly Grinnell led the charge with a trey and a pull-up jumper on consecutive possessions to pull Brockport to within three points midway through the stanza.  A pair of free throws from Desiree Fauvelle and a three-pointer from Erica Johnson knotted the score at 34 with 6:42 to play.

Oswego State created some space between Brockport when Kassie Kleine (Jr., Cazenovia, N.Y.) hit three of her eight points from the right wing and penetrated the lane before dishing to Ryan for a layup to put the Lakers ahead 39-34 with five minutes to play.  The Golden Eagles battled to cut the deficit once again, but came no closer than four points as Oswego State sealed the game with solid free-throw shooting.

Ryan contributed nine rebounds to go along with her 14 points, while Stover and Kari Kipper (Jr., Loudonville, N.Y.) grabbed seven boards apiece.  The Lakers finished the game shooting 35.4 percent (17-for-48) from the field, but went 17-for-20 (85.0 percent) from the free-throw line.  Brockport went 17-for-62 (27.4 percent) from the floor and 6-for-11 (54.5 percent) at the free-throw line.
