RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Eureka College sophomore guard Caty Eeten (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) scored 35 points and added 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season, while the Red Devils' defense held Concordia (Ill.) to 24 percent shooting from the field in Eureka's 80-57 non-conference victory over the Cougars, Tuesday night at Geiseman Gymnasium in River Forest, Ill.

Four different Red Devils scored in the first six minutes of the contest to help Eureka (3-0) race to an 11-0 lead.  Concordia missed its first eight shots from the field and turned the ball over three times before finally getting on the board on Cristina Calabrese's 3-pointer with 15:05 left in the half.  The visitors stretched their lead to 15 (18-3) on a jumper from Eeten at the 13:42 mark, but Concordia pushed back with 16 unanswered points over the next six minutes to get within two points, 18-16.

Concordia's run culminated with a 27-26 advantage after Ashley DiCristofano connected on a jumper with 2:25 left before halftime.  A transition layup from Eureka junior forward Melissa Clements (Sheridan, Ill./Serena H.S./IVCC) regained the lead in the final minute for the Red Devils, but Krystyna Rickett sank two free throws in the closing moments of the half to give the Cougars a 29-28 lead at intermission.

The Red Devils and Cougars traded the lead five times in the first two minutes of the second half before a 3-pointer from Eureka freshman guard Jenna Brooks (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) gave Eureka a 36-34 lead, and the visitors would never trail again.  The advantage slowly increased over the course of the second half and reached double-digits (49-39) for the first time since the first half on a jumper from senior guard Sara Hamilton (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S./Illinois Central) with 11:32 left in the game.

The Red Devils maintained the double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.  The advantage swelled to as many as 27 points when senior forward Khassandrae Brown (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S./Kankakee) knocked down two foul shots for a 79-52 lead with 1:45 remaining.  The Red Devils used a 24-8 run that covered nearly seven minutes midway through the second half to put the game away.

Eureka's 23-point margin of victory on Tuesday was its most lopsided road victory against an NCAA Division III opponent since beating Mount Mary, 77-40, on Nov. 20, 2009.

In addition to her double-double, Eeten dished out a game-high five assists.  Brown made 12 free throws and finished the game with 20 points.  Hamilton snagged a career-high 14 rebounds, while Brooks knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and logged a total of 10 points, her second consecutive game in double-figures.

Rickett led the hosts with 17 points.  Concordia, which topped St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member Webster 47-45 last Friday in St. Louis, fell to 1-2 with the loss to the Red Devils on Tuesday.

Eureka, off to a 3-0 start for the first time since the turn of the century, will return to action for the SLIAC opener next Wednesday, Nov. 30 against Greenville at the Reagan Center at 6 p.m.
