No. 11 Pointers defeat Millikin 66-45

DECATUR, Ill. – The UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team forced 22 turnovers and three players scored in double figures as No. 11 Pointers posted a 66-45 victory over the Millikin University on Tuesday evening.

The Pointers (4-0) and Big Blue (2-2) battled for the first eight minutes to a 9-9 tie before UWSP opened up a 15-point lead, sparked by a 21-6 run over the next 10 minutes.  The visiting Pointers took an 11 point edge, 32-21, into halftime.

UWSP opened the second stanza on a 17-6 run to open up a 22-point lead and never looked back, as they cruised to the 21-point road victory. 

The Pointers shot 40 percent from the floor for the game, 48 percent in the second half, while holding the Big Blue to 28.6 percent (16-56) shooting from the floor.

Sam Barber (Schofield, WI/DC Everest/Winona St.) led the way with 12 points and collected a career-high 13 rebounds for her first double-double.  Cassie Bandow (Plover, WI/Pacelli) added 11 points and Alyssa Olp (Brillion, WI/Brillion) chipped in with 10 points and six assists. 

Julia Robert led Millikin with 13 points. 

UW-Stevens Point returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 29 with a 5 p.m. tip-off at Elmhurst College in Illinois.
