GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Sophomore guard Alison Sweeney (Wall, N.J./Saint Rose) and junior forward Erin Boggan (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) combined for 37 points to lead The University of Scranton women's basketball team to a 66-55 victory over Lyoming College in the third-place game of the GMC Tip-Off Classic at Gwynedd Mercy College on Saturday afternoon.

Sweeney drilled six 3-pointers en route to a game-high 22 points while Boggan added 15 points to go along with nine rebounds, four steals and three blocks. Sweeney has now scored in double figures in all three games this season.

The victory puts Scranton head coach Mike Strong three wins from breaking the NCAA Division III women's all-time record for victories. He now has 755 career victories, trailing only former St. John Fisher coach Phil Kahler, who retired with 757.

Scranton (1-2) led at halftime, 29-21, then came out of the locker room with a 16-4 run to take a 45-25 lead midway through the second half. Lycoming (0-2) chipped away but never got within striking distance the rest of the way.

Junior guard Christina Hiltunen (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) added nine points off the bench while freshman forward Emma Hart (Los Lunas, N.M./Valencia) pulled down eight rebounds.

The Lady Royals shot just 33.3 percent (19 of 57), but forced 21 turnovers by Lycoming.

Lycoming was led by junior guard Rachael Scheller (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy), who scored 17 points and added four steals. Sophomore guard Julia Antonelli (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) added 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Lady Royals return to the court on Tuesday, November 22, when they travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to face King's College at 7 p.m.
