WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Mitchell College women's basketball team couldn't overcome a rough first half of shooting in a 72-41 loss to Albright College in the opening round of the Saint Joseph College Tip Off Tournament on Friday evening.

Mitchell (0-2 overall) shot 32 percent in the second half to finish at 22 percent from the floor in the contest. Freshman Sheanna James led the Mariners with 12 points and added 11 rebounds to notch her first career double-double. Junior Kaylee Cerruto and freshman Zilka Navarro added nine and eight points, respectively.

Albright (2-0 overall) scored on its second possession and never trailed in the game. The Lions led 10-1 in the early stages until a three-pointer by Cerruto gave Mitchell its first field goal with 14:22 remaining in the half. The Mariners continued to struggle, however, making only four more field goals in the stanza and trailed 38-12 at halftime.

The Lions led by as many as 42 points in the second half. Jessica Venturelli led all scorers with 18 points while Meghan Boyle added 13 points and 11 boards for Albright.

Mitchell will face either Fisher College or host Saint Joseph College in Saturday's consolation game at 1 p.m.
