BOX SCORE

Annville, Pa. (Feb. 19, 2011) - For the first time this season Alvernia University (13-12, 6-8) failed to have a player reach double figures and suffered an 87-34 loss at Lebanon Valley (23-2, 13-1) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball at LVC Gymnasium.

The Crusaders were led by freshman Kerri Weber (Sicklerville, N.J./Paul IV) who scored eight points in 23 minutes.  Weber led the team in scoring twice this year.  The first game of the regular season with 14 against Moravian and then again on Saturday.

No one in Saturday's starting lineup scored more than two buckets for the Crusaders.  Junior Angela Altemose (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) was 2-for-7 and scored seven points.

In a day to forget, the Crusaders committed 30 turnovers and shot 20 percent.  Their prize for backing into the Commonwealth Playoffs is a semifinal game on Wednesday back in Annville against the top-seeded Dutchmen.  The Crusaders sewed up their 21st straight postseason appearance when Messiah bettered Albright to give Alvernia the tiebreaker over Elizabethtown.

Alvernia started Saturday's game like a house on fire forcing a pair of LVC misses while running out to a 6-0 lead.

LVC scored the next 20.

Alvernia controled its own destiny Saturday, but knew other match-ups were favorable even if it couldn't beat the Dutchmen.

LVC led 43-15 at the half and the Crusaders never threatened in the second half.

LVC put four players in double figures led by a career-high 25 points from sophomore Renee Fritz.

Tip time for Wednesday's semifinal in Annville is 6:00 p.m.  The other semifinal features #3 Widener at #2 Messiah.  The final is Saturday at the highest remaining seed.
