(St. Davids, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's basketball team overcame a big deficit but couldn't catch host Eastern University, falling 59-55 on Monday afternoon.

The Eagles opened the game with a 15-2 run over the first eight minutes. The Red Devils answered with a 10-2 run to pull within five, 17-12, at the 7:28 mark.

Eastern stretched the lead to 10 and led 30-23 at halftime. A pair of free throws put the Eagles in front, 41-29 with 13:34 remaining. The Devils used solid defense to battle back to tie the game, 43-43, with 6:47 on the clock.

After Eastern went in front by six, senior Annie O'Donnell (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) hit a pair of free throws and junior Taylor Miller (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) sank four from the line to counter an Eagle basket.

Trailing 57-55, the Devils held on defense and controlled the rebound. They were unable to score, however, and Bekah Roland hit two free throws to secure the win.

Senior Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) recorded another double-double, scoring a game-high 23 points while grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds. Classmate Carole Dempsey (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) added 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, three streals and a pair of blocked shots.
