SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Wittenberg Tigers started fast and finished strong on Senior Recognition Day in Pam Evans Smith Arena, easily defeating North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) rival Wooster, 79-50.

The win moved the Tigers back to the .500 mark in the NCAC at 6-6, while their overall record is now 11-12. Wooster, which lost twice to Wittenberg in the 2010-11 season after the two teams split the season series each of the previous three years, dropped to 3-19 overall and 1-12 in the conference.

Senior Katherine Hueter (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Darby) was honored prior to the game, and she made her final regular season appearance on her home floor one to remember. She scored the Tigers' first eight points of the game en route to a phenomenal final stats line of 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and eight steals, which was just one short of the program record for a single game.

Three teammates joined Hueter in double figures offensively, starting with freshman Jaclyn Willoughby (Sidney, Ohio/Houston), who finished with 19 points, six rebounds, three steals and a career-high seven assists. Junior Sarah Watson (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) added 13 points, five rebounds and two assists and sophomore Ashanta Robinson (Yellow Springs, Ohio/Yellow Springs) chipped in with 13 points off the bench. Ten different players saw at least four minutes of action in the game, with nine of them playing at least 15 minutes.

As a team, the Tigers shot 43 percent from the field and a season-best 44 percent from three-point range to go along with 21-of-30 from the free throw line and a six-rebound advantage. Wooster, on the other hand, shot just 36 percent from the field and turned the ball over 27 times, compared to 13 for Wittenberg. The Scots did manage 11-of-12 shooting from the free throw line.

The win sets up a big final week for the Tigers, starting with a road trip to Denison on Wednesday, Feb. 16, for a game against the undefeated, league-leading and nationally-ranked Big Red. Wittenberg closes the regular season at much-improved Hiram on Saturday, Feb. 19.
