Kohawks hammer Beavers 82-62

More news about: Coe
Buena Vista took an early 4-0 lead, but Coe used a 6-0 run to take its first lead of the game with 16:08 to play in the first half.  The Beavers would tie the game four more times before Coe's big run to put the game away early.
The game was tied at 12 with 12:59 left in the first half when a layup by senior Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) sparked a 19-4 run over the next 6:13.  The lead would never dip below 13 from that point on.  Coe had a 13-point lead with 5:50 to play in the opening half before closing the first half on a 12-4 run, with freshman Mary Halvorson (Waterville, Iowa/Waukon) scoring half the points of that run.
Buena Vista made one last run at the Kohawks with 14:26 to play, as they scored six-straight points in just 1:04, but a jumper by junior Leslie Ware (Des Moines, Iowa/Johnston) with 13:05 to play sparked a 17-8 run, putting Coe's lead into the 20's for the remainder of the game.
Junior Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) led four Kohawks in double-figures with a game-high 16 points.  She also added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.  Senior Devvin Rolston (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) added 14 points and seven rebounds, while senior Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) dropped in 13 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and two steals.
With her 14 points, Rolston became the 24th player in school history with 700 career points.  Lincoln moved into third place on the single-season 3-point list with her 56th of the season, while she moved to fifth on the single-season blocks list with 32.
Anciaux added 10 points and two blocks, while senior Kaitlin Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) had four assists.  Breitbach went over the 100 assists mark for the season, just the 10th time in school history a Kohawk has done so.
Ware had a career-high nine assists to go along with her nine points.  Off the bench, Halvorson had eight points, while tying career-highs with eight rebounds and two blocked shots.
The Kohawks improved to 20-3 overall and 12-2 in the Iowa Conference.  The win tied the 2007-08 team for the most wins in school history, while the Kohawks also moved back into a tie with Simpson for the lead in the Iowa Conference.
Coe will return to action on Wednesday, as they travel to Luther.  Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Decorah.
