MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team looked to bounce back from a home loss on senior night when they traveled to Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday. The Eagles jumped ahead early, but the North Division leaders responded with an 18-0 run to take the lead. Edgewood College made a run in the second half, but the Warriors held off the rally to take the game 62-47.

Alison Tobin scored the Eagles' first four points and put Edgewood College (13-10, 11-6 NAC) up four just over two minutes into the game. Shae Beckwith extended the lead to 9-4 with a three-point basket with 15:31 left in the first half. The Eagles went 4-for-9 from the field over the first 4:29 to open up a five point lead, however, the rest of the half the Eagles only made four baskets, going 4-for-18.

Rachel Hoft answered Beckwith's triple with one of her own just 10 seconds later to start an 18-0 Warrior run. Rachel Johnson, Shavon Dillon and Erika Laete all scored four points on the run to put the Warriors (20-3, 15-2 NAC) up 22-9 with just over 10 minutes to play in the first.

At that point, Head Coach Casey Thousand used a timeout to slow the Warriors' momentum. Out of the timeout, Tobin grabbed an offensive rebound and found Chelsey Watkins under the basket who converted layup, which ended a 5:37 Eagle drought without a basket.

The Warriors extended their lead to 28-15 with just under three minutes left in the first half before the Eagles scored the final five points of the half. Danielle Dixon and Brittany Bylsma connected on back-to-back jumpers and Tobin pulled the Eagles within eight at 28-20 with a free throw to end the half.

Edgewood College outscored the Warriors 10-7 over the first 3:28 of the second half to cut the deficit to 35-30 after another Beckwith triple. The Warriors quickly pushed the lead back to nine, only to see the Eagles come back again. Edgewood College cut the deficit back to five three more times. The final time came on a Brianna Reising jump shot with 13 minutes left.

The Warrior lead quickly swelled to 47-37 after a Johnson bucket and a Krissy Day three-point basket. The Eagles battled back again and Bylsma got Edgewood College within six with just over five minutes left with a layup. However, that was as close as the Eagles got the rest of the way as the Warriors responded with an 8-0 run to take a commanding 55-41 lead with just under two minutes left to play.

The Warrior lead reached as many as 16 points before Denay Hering made a three-point basket with 15 seconds left and Day made a pair of free throws with less than 10 seconds left to make the final score 62-47, giving Wisconsin Lutheran their third 20 win season in program history.

Tobin led the way for the Eagles, recording her second consecutive double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Bylsma led the Eagles in scoring with 12 points while Dixon chipped in with nine points.

For the Warriors it was a balanced attack led by Johnson's 14 points while Dillon was the only other scorer to reach double figures with 10 points. The Warriors had three scorers tally eight points apiece.

Edgewood College will close the regular season on Wednesday when they travel to Lakeland College for a 7:00 p.m. tipoff. Lakeland will provide both live video and live stats and the links can be found on EdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
