DOVER, Del. - The Wesley College women's basketball continued its strong play down the stretch as the Wolverines picked up 61-52 win over Marymount in a key game in the CAC playoff race.

The win stretched Wesley's (12-10, 7-6 CAC) win streak to five games, but more importantly, pulled Wesley within one game of the Saints (10-9, 8-5 CAC) and Frostburg State in the conference standings.  Those two teams are currently tied for third.

Angie Owens (Seaford, Del./Seaford), the reigning CAC Player of the Week, continued her strong play with 18 points, six rebounds, two blocks and four steals.

The first half featured nine lead changes and a pair of ties.  A Beth Wiggins lay up put Marymount on top 25-24 with 11 seconds left.  The Wolverines final possession appeared to break down, but Rachelle Allen (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) kicked the ball out to Jazmine Miller (Dover, Del./Dover), who heaved a three at the buzzer to send Wesley into the locker room ahead 27-25.

The Wolverines never trailed in the second half, taking control with an 11-0 run in the opening 4:23 of the period.  Wesley still led by nine, 46-37, after a field goal by Owens with 8:20 on the clock.

Marymount turned up the defense, however, holding the Wolverines off the scoreboard for nearly five minutes, cutting the lead to 46-43 after another layup by Wiggins with 4:36 left.  Just over a minute later, Owens halted the Saints' run with a pair of free throws to stretch the lead back to five.

Miller continued her fine play with 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Cory Boyd (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) chipped in with 14 points, four assists and four steals.

Wiggins led the Saints with 20 points and added a dozen rebounds.  Maame Amponsah also had a double-double with 11 points and 17 boards.  Amanda Billy added 10 points.

The Wolverines tallied a dozen steals in contest, while Marymount managed just single swipe.

Wesley will look to stay in the win column on Saturday, February 12 at St. Mary's (Md.).  The Seahawks are currently a half game behind the Wolverines in the CAC with a record of 7-7 in conference play.
