Maroons Extend Winning Streak to 12

CLEVELAND -- Bryanne Halfhill scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the 12th-ranked University of Chicago women's basketball team defeated host Case Western Reserve University 65-55 in University Athletic Association play Friday evening.

En route to their 12th consecutive victory, the Maroons (16-3 overall, 8-0 UAA) jumped out to a 13-2 lead and built a 30-19 advantage by halftime.

Chicago, which for the fifth time this season never trailed in the contest, took its largest lead of the night, 42-23, on a jumper from Morgan Herrick with 14:51 to play. Herrick had 11 points on the night.

Case (10-9, 4-4) cut the gap to 59-53 on an Erin Hollinger basket at the 1:40 mark, but the Maroons held on. Hollinger led all scorers with 24 points.

Halfhill, who also collected five steals, notched her second double-double of the year and fourth of her career.

Taylor Simpson fell just shy of a sixth straight double-double after finishing the game with 17 points and nine rebounds.

Meghan Herrick added 11 points to extend her double-digit scoring streak to 14 games.
