Reading, Pa. (Feb. 3, 2011) - Junior guard Julie Hahn (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) hit her first four shots of the game, all from behind the arc, and Alvernia University (12-8, 5-4) ran out to a 41-16 halftime lead en route to a 69-36 win over Arcadia University (7-13, 1-8) Thursday evening in a Commonwealth Conference women's basketball game at the Physical Education Center.

Hahn scored her first two points of the night from the free throw line putting the Crusaders up 6-0 early then hit four times from the arc over the next 16 minutes as the hosts opened up a 41-12 lead.  Hahn finished with 16 points in just 22 minutes.

"Might have been the best 15 minutes of the season," said Alvernia head coach Kevin Calabria.  "It's amazing to see how good we can be when we make shots."

The Crusaders shot 43 percent from the floor in the first half including 5-for-9 from the arc.

"Julie was making 3s and we moved the ball around," continued Calabria.  "It was good to see her back."

Hahn sat out a non-conference win at Stevenson a little more than a week ago and has been limited in practice with an injury, but was near full strength Thursday for the Crusaders.

Alvernia also got 13 points, 13 rebounds, and a team-high five assists from junior forward Allie Toczylowski (Mantua, N.J./Clearview Regional), and Angie Altemose (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) pitched in with 10 boards while battling the flu.

The Crusaders opened up a 13-2 lead early and were never threatened.  Arcadia managed just 22 percent from the floor in the first half, and finished the night at 28 percent.  Christine Taylor led the way for the Knights with 13 points.

Alvernia regains a two-game lead over Elizabethtown, which lost to Messiah Thursday, and solidly in fourth place in the conference.   The Crusaders travel to Messiah for a doubleheader on Saturday.
