York, Pa. – Despite a career-high 16 points from first-year center Sophie Pruden (Carrboro, N.C./Chapel Hill), the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's basketball team (10-10, 6-6 CAC) dropped a 69-51 decision to host York College of Pennsylvania (11-9, 8-4 CAC) in Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday night.

York outscored the Seahawks, 14-3, in the game's first 6:49 and St. Mary's never recovered, splitting the season series with the Spartans.  The Seahawks used overtime to post a 79-70 win over York on December 8 behind 21 points from senior forward Jamie Roberts (Rockville, Md./Barrie).

The Spartans limited St. Mary's to eight-of-31 from the field, including just one-of-six in long-range goals, as York held a 33-22 advantage at the break.  Pruden led all players with 10 points and five caroms.

St. Mary's improved its shooting percentage in the second half, connecting on 11-of-34 from the field, but the Seahawks were unable to get any closer than six with 17:28 left in the game.

Coming off the bench, Pruden connected on seven-of-14 from the field and two-of-three from the free throw line.  Pruden also hauled in a team-best seven rebounds while sophomore guard Pui Sham (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) contributed seven points, four boards and three assists.

York's senior Jaimie Sapp (Bluemont, Va./Loudoun Valley) led the hosts with 14 points and nine rebounds as the Spartans had four players score in double figures and shot 40.0 percent from the field.

St. Mary's looks to get back on the winning track Saturday, February 5 when the Seahawks host Marymount (Va.) University in conference action at 2:00 pm.  Saturday is White Out Cancer Day and the Seahawks ask all fans to wear white and a $1 to donate for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
