CHICAGO -- Taylor Simpson led four Maroons in double figures with 28 points as the 13th-ranked University of Chicago defeated Carnegie Mellon University 90-65 in University Athletic Association women's basketball action Sunday at the Ratner Athletics Center.

Carnegie Mellon (2-16 overall, 0-7 UAA) stayed with the Maroons throughout the first half. The Tartans led as late as the 4:56 mark before Chicago closed out the period on a 15-4 run to give it a 48-39 advantage at the intermission.

The Maroons (15-3, 7-0) kept the momentum going in the second half as they outscored Carnegie Mellon 21-6 during the first six minutes of the period to increase their lead to 66-45. Chicago led by at least 20 points the rest of the way as it won its 11th consecutive game.

En route to her fifth consecutive and UAA-leading ninth double-double of the season, Simpson grabbed 14 rebounds -- eight of them on the offensive end. She also handed out five assists.

Morgan Herrick finished with 17 points, four assists, and two blocks. She connected on seven of nine attempts from the field.

Bryanne Halfhill scored 15 points and handed out a game-high seven assists. The UAA steals leader, Halfhill also collected five takeaways.

Meghan Herrick extended her double-digit scoring streak to 13 games as she tallied 12 points

Emily Peel and Jacki Cortese shared high scorer honors for Carnegie Mellon with 16 points apiece. Jacquie Shaw added 10 points.
