St. Louis, Mo., January 30, 2011 – Sophomore guard Dani Hoover's first career double-double propelled the No. 8 ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's basketball team to a 80-58 victory over Case Western Reserve University on Sunday afternoon in University Athletic Association (UAA) action at the WU Field House in St. Louis, Mo.

Hoover had 12 points and a career-best 11 rebounds in the victory for the Bears, their sixth-straight. Hoover capped the day with a three-pointer from the corner with 4:58 to play on her older sister Alex Hoover's ninth assist of the day. Dani Hoover pulled down 21 rebounds in two games this weekend, and is third in the UAA in conference games only averaging 7.3 rebounds per game.

Senior Kathryn Berger led the Bears with a game-high 21 points, while sophomore Kristin Anda also scored in double figures with 11 points. Alex Hoover filled up the stat sheet with nine points, nine assists and five rebounds. Hoover dished out 14 assists in two games this weekend, and is just 16 shy of 500 for her career.

The Bears shot 45.9 percent (28-61) from the field and 73.1 percent (19-26) from the foul line, and recorded 21 assists and 10 steals in the victory. Washington U. also outrebounded Case, 42-29, and had a 22-4 advantage in second-chance points.

Washington University (15-3, 6-1 UAA) embarks on a four-game road trip starting next Friday, Feb. 4, when it heads to Pittsburgh, Pa., to take on Carnegie Mellon University at 6 p.m. (ET). The Bears continue to trail the University of Chicago by one game in the UAA standings, following Chicago's 90-65 victory over Carnegie Mellon on Sunday.

Washington University took advantage of seven offensive rebounds to score its first 11 points of the game off second-chance points. A put-back from sophomore Annie Sayers gave Washington U. an early 11-6 lead with 15:03 remaining.

Caitlin Henry had the hot hand for Case Western Reserve in the first half, scoring 10 points on 2-of-4 shooting from three-point range. A pair of free-throws from Henry and her second three-pointer from the top of the key gave Case its largest lead of the game at 21-19 with 13:24 remaining in the first half.

Berger missed her first seven shots from the field, but caught fire with the game tied at 23-23. She hit three-consecutive three-pointer in a span of 70 seconds to ignite a 13-0 run by the Bears, as Washington U. built a commanding 36-23 lead with 4:20 to play. Berger concluded the run with a baseline jumper as she scored 11 of the 13 points for the Bears during the decisive run.

Washington U. took a 44-31 lead to the locker room, shooting 44.4 percent (16-36) from the field and hitting 4-of-8 from three-point range. The Bears outrebounded Case 22-16 in the first half, and turned 10 offensive rebounds into 18 second-chance points. Berger and Anda each scored 11 points in the first half, while Dani Hoover had seven points and eight rebounds.

Berger connected on two free-throws and then nailed a jumper from the wing as the Bears built the advantage to 20 (57-37) with 14:59 remaining in the contest. Berger had six of the Bears' first 12 points in the second half. Case Western Reserve trimmed the lead to 65-50 with 5:47 to play, but that would be as close as the Spartans would get.

Case Western Reserve (10-8, 4-3 UAA) shot just 36.5 percent (19-52) from the field, and had 18 turnovers in the loss. Erin Hollinger (18 points) and Henry (17 points) scored in double figures for Case, which has lost three-straight games.
