PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – To complete a Friday-Saturday Skyline sweep, the Mount Saint Mary College women's basketball team defeated St. Joseph's College this afternoon by a score of 73-54. The win was the ninth in a row for the Knights as they improved to 15-2 overall (11-0 Skyline).

A tight game through the first 13 minutes, Mount Saint Mary led 20-15 following a St. Joseph's two-pointer at the 6:38 mark. From there, it was junior Jen Mocanu (Belford, N.J.) who would lead the Knights on a 20-5 run to close out the half. Mocanu scored 12 points during the run, including an old-fashioned three-point play and a triple from long range on back-to-back possessions.

St. Joseph's would actually outscore the Mount in the second half, but the deficit proved to be too much to overcome. The Golden Eagles only got as close as 18 and trailed by as many as 30 before trimming the final margin to 19 with a 10-0 run to close the contest.

Mocanu led the Knights in scoring for the second consecutive game, this time tallying 20 points on 7-of-13 from the floor. Senior Jess Tice (Altamont, N.Y.) totaled 14 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three blocks, while junior Amanda Horvers (Kingston, N.Y.) matched sophomore Becky Metzger (Point Pleasant, N.J.) with 13 points.

Sophomore Amanda Bender (East Northport, N.Y.) led the Golden Eagles with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Following back-to-back games, the Knights will have a few days off before returning to action on Wednesday. They'll travel to Bard College for a 6:00 p.m. start on January 26.
