Millikin Women’s Basketball Falls to #9 Illinois Wesleyan

            The Millikin women's basketball lost to #9 Illinois Wesleyan 77-59 on Jan. 11 at the Griswold Center.  The Titans are now 11-3, 3-0 while Millikin falls to 10-4, 2-1.

            Millikin had the advantage for most of the first 10 minutes of the game, but then Illinois Wesleyan got on a roll and took a 41-23 advantage into the locker room at halftime.  The two teams played even in the second half, but the Big Blue couldn't chip into the Titan lead.

            Illinois Wesleyan shot 56 percent from the field in the game including 60 percent in the second half.  The Titans were 10-18 (55.6 percent) from behind the three point line.

Millikin shot 42 percent on the game, but converted only 6-16 (37.5 percent) from behind the arc.  Illinois Wesleyan had a slight advantage in rebounding 30-24.  Millikin committed 22 turnovers, but forced the Titans into 21. 

            Millikin's top scorer was Nikki Tipsword with 17 points.  Julia Robert had 14 and Heather Pruemer had 11.  Elise Wildman had a team high six rebounds.

            Nikki Preston had 14 for the Titans who had four players in double figures.  Olivia Lett had 12, Melissa Gardner added 12 and Stacey Arlis had 11.  Arlis had a team high five rebounds.

            Millikin will travel to North Central on Jan. 15 at 2 p.m.
