Greensboro, N.C. -- Danielle Duncan scored
20 points as Greensboro College cruised to a 70-49 win over Averett
on Saturday. GC improved to 11-0 and 6-0 in conference games.
Duncan was 7-15 from the field and made
6-7 free throws. Freshman Chevena Pickard tallied 17 points
and was 7-11 shooting. Nikki Wilborn added 10 points and
dished a game-best six assists.
The Pride trailed early but went on a furious rally to close the
first half. AU led 13-11 with 10:41 on the clock. GC then outscored
the Cougars 34-8 to end the half with a 45-21 lead.
The Pride's biggest lead was 33 points (66-33) with 4:40 left in
the contest aftre a trey from Pickard.
Greensboro led in rebounds, 40-29. The Pride shot 44-percent
(25-57) to 34-percent (16-47) for AU. GC had 15 assists. Averett
(7-4, 4-2) was led by Liz Martin (13 points) and Kaneshia Slade
(11).
The Pride travels to Ferrum on Wednesday.
