Rangers Drop Second-Straight in Delaware

More news about: Drew

DOVER, Del. (December 29, 2010) - Playing in the consolation game of the Sheraton Shootout at Wesley College, the Rangers fell to the hosts, 70-51 this afternoon. Drew (6-3) has now lost back-to-back games for the first time in December since the 2007-08 season.

The Rangers got outstanding efforts from Victoria Ault (Middletown, N.J./Mater Dei) and junior #Danielle Barber (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Twp.). Ault scored in a career-high 19 points and snagged seven rebounds in the losing effort. Barber, the conference's second leading scorer, had a game-high 20 points and five assists. At the conclusion of the tournament, Barber was the lone Ranger to nab All-Tournament Team honors.

The first half was played evenly right up until the 2:28 mark when Wolverines hit their final five shots sparking a 11-0 run to take a 37-27 lead into the locker room. The lead changed hands a total six times with the score also tied six times in the first 20 minutes.

The 10 point lead seemed to make the difference for Wesley (6-4) as they would not relinquish the lead for the remainder of the game. The Wolverines had four players in double figures including 15 points of the bench from Katie Kirk.

Jess Reid (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) battled once again on the block hauling in a team-high 10 rebounds. It is her fifth game this season she has had 10 rebounds or more. The Rangers as a team could not dial it up from long distance as they shot 4-21 from the three point line.

Coincidently this is the third-consecutive game where the Rangers have scored exactly 51 points. The Rangers are 1-2 in that span with a win coming over Baptist Bible on December 11th.

The Rangers will return home after the New Year in their final tune-up before conference play against neighbors St. Elizabeth. Tip-off is set for 6:00 in Baldwin Gym.
