SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Whitworth women's basketball team will head into the Christmas break on a two-game winning streak after running past visiting Walla Walla University 92-33 in a non-conference contest on Thursday night at the Whitworth Fieldhouse.

Emily Guthrie tied her career high with seven three-pointers and led all players with 21 points to help the Pirates improve to 5-4 overall with their second straight win. The Wolves fell to 1-13.

Whitworth ran away to a big lead early in the game, turning a 9-6 advantage into a 34-8 lead with a 25-2 run. Guthrie had five of her seven three-pointers in the first half to help the Pirates take a 48-16 lead into the locker rooms. Whitworth shot 44% (17-39) in the opening half while holding the Wolves to 21% (6-28). The Pirates committed five turnovers while forcing 13 turnovers from Walla Walla.

Guthrie hit another three to finish off a 10-2 run for the Bucs to start the second half, giving Whitworth a 40-point (58-18) advantage.

The Pirates tied a season high with 16 three-pointers as a team, shooting 47% (16-34) from beyond the arc. The school record for three-pointers made in a single game is 18.

Every available player on the Pirate bench saw at least 11 minutes of action during the game. Walla Walla was only able to suit up seven of the ten players on its roster, and every Wolf player saw at least 21 minutes on the court.

Guthrie added six rebounds and five steals to her 21 points. Taylor (LaMoreaux) Taylor had 13 points and also grabbed six boards. Jenna Cacchillo and Kendra Lahue each came off of the bench for 12 points, while Emily Travis scored 11 points. Hannah Ostic dished a career-high eight assists.

Heather McFadden scored 16 points and had six rebounds to lead Walla Walla.

Whitworth is off until after Christmas. The Pirates will return to action on December 29 and 30th at the Carroll College Classic in Helena, Montana. Whitworth will take on the host Saints on December 29th at 8:00 p.m. (MST), followed by a contest against Montana Tech on the 30th at 6:00 p.m. (MST).
