Eaton earns first career head coaching victory

GREENSBURG, PA- Casey Stanton (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 20 points and 14 rebounds and three other Lady Bobcats scored in double figures as Pitt-Greensburg picked up their first win of the season75-43 over Hilbert Saturday afternoon. 

Both teams got off to a slow start as the two teams combined to score just 25 points over the 13:30.  Leading 15-12 with 6:38 remaining in the first half the Lady Bobcats kicked it in to gear out scoring Hilbert 10-0 over a two minute period.  Olivia Valenti (Pittsburgh, PA/Woodland Hills) scored five points over the 10-0 run.

UPG closed the first half on a quick 8-0 run with Brooke Pioli (Johnstown, PA/Bishop McCort) leading the way with five of the eight points as Pitt-Greensburg led 35-16 at the break.

Pitt-Greensburg extended their lead to 30 on two free throws by Kayla Watson (Belle Vernon, PA/Belle Vernon) who finished the contest with 10 points and nine rebounds off the bench.  The Lady Bobcats led by as many as 35 before capturing a 75-43 victory.

The win marked Erin Eaton's first career victory as a head coach.  "The girls are excited and it's a great win for us." said Eaton "It was a long time in the making but the girls have worked extremely hard for our coaching staff since day one."

UPG got a great game from their three seniors Stanton, Pioli and Ali Bilak (Wall, PA/East Allegheny).  "The seniors gave a great effort for us, all three were in double figures and Casey had another phenomenal game with 20 points and 14 rebounds her sixth double-double of the year."

Bilak scored 14 points and pulled in nine rebounds while Pioli connected on 3-5 from behind the arc to finish with 12 points.

Pitt-Greensburg is off for a full week until they welcome Frostburg State University as a non-conference opponent for the first time.  The tip for that contest is scheduled for 2:00 PM in Chambers Hall.
