Macalester hits the boards to roll past Augsburg

The Scots pounded the boards for a 52-30 rebounding advantage and defeated Augsburg 82-46 at the Leonard Center. The Scots improve to 2-6 overall and 2-3 in the MIAC, and are now out of action until Jan. 3.

Holly Schiedermayer (Jr., Waupaca, Wis.) scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds to pace the Scots.  Majra Mucic (Sr., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park – Minn.) finished with 12 points, a career-high 15 rebounds, five assists, four steals and a couple blocks.

Shannon Rene (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial) was 4-for-7 from behind the arc and finished with 12 points to go along with five assists.

Macalester battled for 21 offensive rebounds. The Scots led 20-5 in second chance points, 27-8 in points off turnovers, 40-16 in points in the paint, and 39-12 in bench points.

Augsburg, now 2-6 overall and 1-4 in the MIAC, was led by Tracee Schrank with 14 points. Schrank was 4-for-7 on three-pointers.
