Gusties outlast Ole women in double overtime

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Gustavus Adolphus College outlasted St. Olaf 67-58 in two overtimes in a MIAC women's basketball game on Monday night at Skoglund Center.

The Gusties (3-3, 2-1 MIAC) went 2-for-3 from the field and 7-of-10 from the free throw line in the second overtime to get the win. St. Olaf went a combined 2-of-16 from the field and 3-for-8 from the charity stripe in the overtime sessions.

Ava Perry had 15 points off the bench to pace Gustavus, which led by as many as 15 in the first half. St. Olaf cut the advantage to six at the half, and tied the game on an Elise Raney layup with 15:18 left in regulation.

The Oles, who were led by Erin Haglund's 14 points and eight rebounds, took a three-point lead with 2:12 to play on a Haglund free throw. Gustavus responded with four straight free throws to take a 51-50 lead. Haglund then made one of two on the next trip to tie the game and send it to overtime.

Katie Lauer also had 14 points and Eileen O'Donoghue 12 points for the Oles (4-2, 1-2 MIAC) in the defeat.

St. Olaf plays at the University of St. Thomas on Wednesday night before returning home for a Saturday contest with Hamline University.
