ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Brittany Kilgore (Northfield/Nordonia) recorded a career-high 17 points, leading Mount Union's women's basketball team to a 75-62 win over Wittenberg on Wednesday at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

Kori Wiedt (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) added 15 points, four assists and three steals while Katie Crider (Brunswick/Brunswick) contributed 11 points for the Purple Raiders (4-0), who once trailed by seven in the first half.

With 6:05 left in the first half, the visitors held a 32-25 lead before Mount Union battled back to take a 38-37 lead into halftime.

Trailing 37-31, the Raiders bridged an 18-2 run across both halves. They began it in the first with a seven-point run: Tierney Allen (Alliance/Alliance) made two free throws, Rosa LaMattina (Westlake/Westlake) buried a three-pointer and then Erin Schmidt (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) put in the go-ahead layup.

Early in the second half, Wittenberg's Kim Replogle made a jumper and gave the visitors a 39-38 lead -- their final advantage -- before Mount Union went on an 11-point streak.

Five different Raider scorers led the second-half charge. Crider capped the outburst with a three-pointer, giving Mount Union a 49-39 lead with 14:44 remaining.

Wittenberg (2-3) trimmed its deficit twice to two points, but never found its way back into the lead.

The Tigers pulled the score to 55-53 with 7:57 left, but seven straight Mount Union points gave the hosts some breathing room. Later, the Purple Raiders put the game out of reach with an eight-point run during the final two minutes.

LaMattina made five assists for the Raiders, who had a solid day at the free-throw line (14 of 17 for 82.4 percent).

For Wittenberg, Sarah Watson scored 18 points while Replogle contributed 12 points and nine rebounds. Katherine Hueter added 13 points, Lyndsey Clark grabbed 11 rebounds and Lauren Cassel dished six assists.

The Raiders will open up Ohio Athletic Conference play on Saturday. They will visit Otterbein for a 5 p.m. matchup.
